The 30  November 1609 a man  raised his telescope to the sky for the first time in the history, watching from a new angle the brightest celestial object in the firmement: the Moon.

That man was Galileo Galilei.

In order to celebrate this important event, after 400 years  the blogs www.gravita-zero.org and www.gravedad-cero.org launched the first edition of Carnevale della Fisica. Thanks to the competion, the 30th of every month the best online contributions to the field of Science Communication are published and awarded.

The Carnival was born by an idea of Claudio Pasqua, for the Italian version,  and Carlo Ferri, for the Spanish one.

At the beginning the Carnival involved 8 countries: Italy, Spain, Switzerland, USA, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador and Mexico.

The Carnival is opening in the United Kingdom on the 30th of May 2015.
